Nuclear Technologies provided between 25 and 34 safety experts comprising 7 Safety Case Project Managers and 18 - 27 Senior Safety Engineer/Team Leaders (dependant on workload). This work included supervision of work carried out by DRDL staff and other contractors.

Scope of service supplied

• Provision of the safety cases for the refuel and refit of the Vanguard submarine fleet

• Updating of the existing site facilities safety cases to bring them up to modern standards.

• Safety case revisions on the Astute class submarine facilities.

• Interface with NII.

• Specialist input ranging from Strategy to Commissioning (PCSR’s)

• Supporting disciplines to cover areas such as engineering substantiation

• Safety of Radwaste management

• Safety of operational nuclear plant

• Modifications to the Operational facility safety cases

• Dose assessments

• Risk assessments of radiological and conventional hazards.

• Plant shielding assessments
