CRITICALITY SAFETY CASE SUPPORT TO CAPENHURST INTEGRATED DECOMMISSIONING PROJECT

Description:
Provision of a criticality safety consultant on full time secondment to BNFL Capenhurst providing support to Non Standard Waste, POCO and Enriched Uranium projects. The scope of work is varied and covers all decommissioning work on the ex-diffusion plant and associated activities ranging from provision of ‘on the spot’ expert criticality advice to the technical support team, to the production of criticality safety assessments and CIDAS omission cases. Due to the nature of operations on site, the assessments have been varied covering storage, processing, movement and off-site disposal.

Scope of service supplied

• Lead criticality advisor on new plant design for decommissioning obsolete Hex cylinders

• Criticality safety analyses for storage and handling of ex-diffusion plant items

• CIDAS Omission Case for storage and handling of ex-diffusion plant items;

• Numerous criticality safety assessments for off-site disposal of fissile contaminated items;

• General criticality safety advice to Non-Standard Wastes project.
