Review of the manufacturing and waste
management practices at RRMPOL Derby in support of the
long-term waste management strategy for the site including
the production of future waste management systems and procedures
to minimise future discharges from the licensed site.

groups according to physical, chemical and radiological
characteristics
and with common treatment and management methods
at RRMPOL Derby.

Evaluation of the best practices for
treatment and disposal of liquid, gaseous and solid radioactive
wastes arising from fuel manufacture. This work involved
the examination of the existing clean up and decontamination
technologies and an evaluation of emerging technologies
that offer the potential for application over the next
10 years at RRMPOL Derby.

Support on the development of a robust
strategy for the management of PCM wastes Site-wide Liquid
Effluent Treatment Strategy in support of the Dounreay
Site Restoration Plan.

Review/justification study on the proposed
upgrades for the D1203 Low Active Drain at Dounreay as
a result of the upgrade identified for the Suspect Active
Drain monitoring improvements.

Active Waste Vaults Retrieval Project
- Nuclear Technologies are providing waste management consultancy
services for the Active Waste Vaults project, which involves
the retrieval and packaging of operational waste, stored
on the Berkeley Site. Our involvement includes:

A review of the waste management strategy
for the AWVR project.

Preparation of procedures for trials
to evaluate the waste processing system in the AWVR process
cell including the vibro table and assay system.

Evaluation of the results of the waste
processing system trials.

Preparation of Stage 1 Nirex Letter
of Comfort submissions for the mobile and the solid waste
streams.

Preparation of a BPEO report for the
AWVR facility.
-
Undertaking a HAZard APpraisal (HAZAP)
study for the mobile and solid waste streams.

Preparation and maintaining waste datasheets
derived from the HAZAP study.
-
Participation in optioneering assessments
for the identification of the preferred options for processing
the mobile waste.
