Safety Case Preparation and
Licensing Group

Safety Group consultants have been preparing Safety Cases for Nuclear Technologies clients since the company’s inception over ten years ago. We now make significant contributions to all major nuclear licensees, their regulators and associated stakeholders by undertaking a complete range of risk assessments, safety justifications and by the preparation of all relevant safety documentation and safety cases.

In addition, Nuclear Technologies develop client’s nuclear safety policy and undertake independent third party review. Our considerable experience in meeting the requirements of our clients thus ensures quick, efficient and pragmatic production of safety documentation.

Safety / risk assessment can be undertaken for the full range of plant states from concept development through to decommissioning and de-licensing and can include:

  • Engineering Substantiation

  • Hazard Identification using HAZOP studies

  • Management and production of full safety cases, and hazard analysis reports, HAZANs

  • Probabilistic Safety Assessment: Fault Tree / Event tree analysis

  • Deterministic Safety Assessment

  • Independent Peer Review

In addition to its experienced consultants, the Safety Group has access to a vast body of expertise from across the company. The majority of projects that we undertake require the support that a multi-disciplined team offers and cross group working in small coherent teams is common to meet client requirements. In addition, continuous training ensures that we remain fully familiar with the safety standards for environmental protection and radiological safeguards applied to nuclear licensed sites.

Nuclear Technologies routinely works on projects where (national) security or commercial confidentiality is essential. Nuclear Technologies' experience in safety issues and safety case production within the United Kingdom is therefore significant and can be readily measured by the numbers of consultants currently working in this discipline at a range of levels of responsibility with our major clients and by our portfolio of recent and relevant projects listed below:
