The worldwide resurgence in new nuclear power has led to an ambitious international programme of power station construction.
Climate change and security of supply has caused the world to once again look at the use of nuclear energy in conjunction with renewable and conventional power as an integral part of the energy mix.
Nuclear Technologies have been involved with the UK’s nuclear renaissance from the very outset. Along with parent company TÜV SÜD we are able to offer support to the new nuclear build programme.
Nuclear Technologies are providing support to NII by performing shielding and radiological protection design reviews of the two proposed reactor designs as part of the UK’s Generic Design Assessment (GDA). In addition, for GDA, we are undertaking a review of design aspects for the health physics, decontamination and LLW treatment service facilities for the AP1000 and EPR. Nuclear Technologies are continuing to support one of the new nuclear build prospective licensee companies with BAT assessments, environmental permit submissions, LoC submissions, decommissioning and waste management plans and waste strategy advice for the proposed reactor site development. The same services have been provided to one of the GDA reactor vendors.
Our parent company, TÜV SÜD has extensive international experience in nuclear new build, third party inspection, test and accreditation of safety critical systems and components of nuclear reactors.
